Thoughts From Yesteryear:
A Scary Cartoon From 1934

Thoughts About Teenagers:

Michele and I have been concerned with the dangers of teenage driving for many years now.  As our oldest daughter (of 4 daughters) started driving, I developed my driving contract.  I wrote if after reviewing many examples of these contracts available on the internet.  I combined many ideas and added many of my own.

People have asked "How can you do this and what if the kids don't accept the contract?".  I have a simple answer: "Then they don't drive."  Driving is a privelege, not a right.  If they can't accept these rules, then how can I trust them driving a huge death trap?
I knew I had a decent idea when I heard my daughters discussing the contract with a friend whose parents were hesistant about letting her drive.  My daughter told her to get the contract and show it to her parents to let them know she was serious about safety, and would handle the situation as an adult would.

I always wanted to develop a driving school for the teenage driver, but did not have the resources nor talent to support the school.  I learned of the B.R.A.K.E.S. program and enrolled our daughter.  The program was fantastic, and we are sending our other daughters in August.  Doug Herbert and his staff have developed an outstanding program for the early driver.  It is unfortunate that Doug lost his two sons in a car accident that was the impetus to start the program, but we have decided to support this program.  I encourage you to click below to be brought to the program's website.
